Officer Bios
KEN BADISH
Ken Badish has been involved in the development, finance, production, acquisition and distribution of hundreds of motion pictures over the last twenty years.
Mr. Badish has been a prolific producer, producing no less than one movie per year over the past 15 years. Starting with the uproarious 1990 comedy, “Ski School”, Badish produced a string of comedies including the two movies featuring the lovable Jim Varney in the role that made him famous, “Ernest Goes to Africa” and “Ernest In the Army”. Badish followed up these successful comedic outings with “Pirates of the Plain” starring Tim Curry and Dee Wallace- Stone. Badish has also produced a number of films outside of the comic genre including the drama, “Conflict of Interest” starring Judd Nelson and Alyssa Milano, and futuristic actioner “Automatic” starring action star, Oliver Gruner. IN 2009, Badish produced a supernatural horror/thriller, “MonsterWolf”, a slasher film, “Maskerade”, and “House of Bones” which recently premiered to phenomenal ratings on the SyFy Channel.
Badish’s activities have ranged from senior corporate positions for companies including Home Box Office and most recently as a Senior Vice President of Blockbuster Inc., where he served as President of Blockbuster’s DEJ Productions subsidiary. In addition, his owned and operated corporation, Active Entertainment, has been involved in the production, acquisition and distribution of features to all global markets for over fifteen years.
Active’s production activities have ranged from the jungles of Brazil, to Eastern Europe’s Bulgaria and Romania in addition to Canada and the U.S. In 2008 Active began, and continues to be, one of the most successful outfits to capitalize on the generous tax credit offered by the state of Louisiana.
Mr. Badish is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the Owner-President Management Program of the Graduate School of Business Administration at Harvard University.
DANIEL LEWIS
Daniel Lewis is the Chief Operating Officer for Active Entertainment. A Louisiana native, he attended LSU and graduated in 2004 with a degree in psychology and finance.
While working with JPMorgan Chase from 2004-06 he connected with many producers who were attracted to Louisiana’s tax credit program for their projects. From ’06-’08 Lewis worked on over 25 films across the state assisting producers with their financing needs, while also assisting in the infrastructure growth of the state’s budding film industry.
In early 2009 he teamed with Ken Badish’s Active Entertainment and Bullet Films. In addition to serving as the company’s COO, he has stepped into a producorial role and finished his firs two projects as an executive producer/producer on Monsterwolf starring Robert Picardo, Leonor Varela, and Jason London and Maskerade starring Nikki DeLoach, Stephen Colletti, and Terry Kiser along with Michael Berryman and Treat Williams.
